A certain tranquility accompanies near silence, complemented only by the soft serenade of solo piano renditions of The Beatles and Paul Simon, that can promote focused studying like no other environment. Mathematics problems can be completed with ease, and an essay can be drawn up in no time. At the Free State High School Library, students have computers, seating and various writing utensils at their disposal; however, these accommodations are only available for a brief period of time. When the clock strikes 4 p.m., all students are told to leave the library area and continue their studies elsewhere. While the library is useful for completing large amounts of work quickly due to its crafted, serene atmosphere, its limited availability reduces its value to the student body. It still stands as a useful asset to Free State students, but they must use their time very wisely.
Hours: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Monday to Friday
Pros: Quiet atmosphere, computers, free writing utensils.
Cons: Short period of availability outside of school hours
