A Day On Wheels
November 10, 2015
Diagnosed at birth with arthrogryposis, a condition that prevents joints to move as normal, junior Leanne Saulsbury has lived the majority of her life in leg braces. However, her braces. However, her braces, wheelchair and crutches have set no limitation on her life as a student, friend and teenager. “Sometimes I go through it all day and [at the end] I’m like, ‘Oh, I got braces on,'” Saulsbury said. A regular day in her wheelchair is no longer full of challenges. “It’s not hard at all. It’s easy … I just pretend I don’t have braces,” Saulsbury said. Even as she wheels through school, she does not consider her any different from her peers. Instead, she asks them to “just think of me like you.”
