BREAKING NEWS: Prairie Park Elementary School teacher arrested for sexual assault charges

Deputy Chief Anthony Brixius speaks during press conference regarding recent sexual assault arrest

On Feb. 8, Prairie Park Elementary School speech and language pathologist Mark Gridley was reported of possible sexual assault allegations by two elementary schoolers according to the Lawrence Police Department.

60 year-old Gridely was in custody as of Monday afternoon, according to the Lawrence Times. After receiving his full speech language pathologist license in 2011, he worked in the Seaman school district from 2015 to 2021. He joined Lawrence Public Schools the following fall semester.

At the press conference on Feb. 11, Deputy Chief Anthony Brixius announced two details regarding the “large investigation” that has grown since the Saturday morning report. Lawrence Police declared they are “expanding the investigation to include potential students outside of those receiving speech services” and they know “there are more than two potential victims”.

As the investigation grows, The Children’s Advocacy Center, USD 497 and Lawrence Police ask parents to call 785-830-7430 if concerns arise about their interaction with Gridley.
