The Free State Art Club launched a donation drive and fundraiser on November 16 for the Lawrence Humane Society.

The club is selling handmade buttons in efforts to raise money for the non-profit shelter. They will also be collecting donations such as Oxyclean, towels, litter, foods and blankets.

Junior Teresa Wright approached club sponsor Rachel Downs with the idea of starting a fundraiser for the Humane Society.

“When I came up with the idea to fundraise, I saw the button machine out. I thought it would be a good idea because I saw a lot of people in class making them,” Wright said.

The fundraiser is to help fund renovations to the shelters outdated facilities.

“Their facility is very much outdated, their stuff is busting at the seams,” Downs said.

The drive ends tomorrow. Bring any and all donations to the art room.
