First independent Fashion Show sparks excitement among participants
On Jan. 29, students put together the first Free State Fashion Show. In the past the show was combined with the Talent Show but this year it was on its own and there were more participants.
“This year it’s more focused on modeling and how we appear, rather than the actual clothing. There is a ton more people,” said sophomore Goldie Schmiedeler.
The Fashion Show has had various themes over the years this year’s being Black and White.
“There were six categories, elegant, classy, everyday, urban, party and sexy,” junior Will Lenz said.
Clothes were provided by Arizona Trading Company, Wild Man Vintage and Kohl’s. Some of the models were worried about having to run off the stage and change and still get back in time.
“The only thing I was worried about was the changing that we had to do. I don’t want to twist an ankle running back and forth,” freshman Teresa Wright said.
Another aspect that factors into the Fashion Show is stage fright.
“I was proud that I was just able to get out there because when I was a little kid I had terrible stage fright,” Lenz said. “I learned that I am capable of more than I thought.”
